I thought the sports season was coming to an end, but they're already practicing volleyball for next year!!! I guess we can say that the sports for this past school year has almost come to an end.

Jas enjoyed the season. In league play the Panda's finished 4th out of 9 - pretty good for being such a young team with no seniors playing. The final tournament has been rained out more than once and now it's heading into exam time so the final probably won't happen this year. Jas's coach told me that she would have been playing in the All Star game after the tournament. So kind of an anti-climatic end to the season thanks to all the rain. Jas loves softball and is glad she has another year to play.
The school had their annual Blue and Gold Awards Banquet night last week. Rich, Jas, Carlee and I enjoyed a lasagna dinner, followed by the awards.
You get a pin for each team you were on, and then three awards are given to each team for various things.
Carlee with her pins for cross-country, volleyball and basketball. She has just finished playing Spring League basketball too, as well as community softball.
Jas with her pins for volleyball, basketball (2 teams), softball and track. She got two special awards as well - the Leadership Award for Junior Varsity Basketball, and the Most Valuable Player Award for Slo-pitch.
What a great year for Jas! She deserved it though - she really worked hard, especially during basketball season when she was on two teams. But wait, there's more . . .

Jas ran the 3000m at the Zone track meet and finished 5th. All places up to 6th place are awarded points. The school with the most points at the end of the day wins the banner to proudly display in their school gym forever.

This is the third year in a row the High School track team has won the banner (that's why it says 3-Peat in purple letters!) Great job students!!!
I delight in living in a small town with a small school, so my children have opportunities to develop their talents in so many different areas. This would be physically impossible if we lived in a larger area and had to drive kids to everything. So even though I will still complain when I have to pay my high property taxes, right now - I'm delighted!!!
