I had an awesome Mothers' Day this year! My day started with this . . .
. . . strawberry, banana and whipped cream crepes - served to me in bed. My lovelies brought the tray in to me while singing "Mother I love you, mother I do, Father in Heaven has sent me to you . . . "
Jordyn was the master chef and it was so delicious. I couldn't quite eat all of it myself though - had to share!
Since it was Mothers' Day, I didn't have any earlier church meetings so had a nice leisurely morning, getting ready for church with my family. We had a newly returned missionary speaking at church so that was awesome, as well as our youth all singing the EFY Medley - "As Sisters in Zion" and "We'll Bring the World His Truth". It was so beautiful - my tears could not be restrained!
We had a special Relief Society meeting for all the sisters in our ward. The YW were teaching Primary so the ladies could all be together. The fire alarm was accidentally pulled before this meeting so I was helping the YW get all the Primary kids out. Eventually it was all sorted out and everyone was back in their proper classrooms. In RS we were served some lovely treats and listened to our newly called RS presidency. They gave us a bookmark, flower and raspberry tart to take home.
We get out of church at 4:00pm, so we got home right away because our missionary, Jasmine, said she'd be Skyping us between 4:30 and 5:00. The family all went to work on Mothers' Day dinner and I plunked myself down in front of the computer. Before long an email came through asking if we were there. She said she was just waiting for her companion to finish talking to her family and then she'd be calling us. The skype call came through at 4:45 and I bellowed for everyone to gather before hitting the receive button. Chelle had just arrived too but Logan had to work. We all quickly gathered around the computer - hit the button and wham-oh!!! There was our beloved Jasmines face on our computer screen!
We all made a bunch of noise at this point - kind of a combination of "hellos" and "there you are" and "how are you doings" and "oh you look so good" - from nine people all at the same time, interspersed with lots of laughing and giggling through the tears. Most of the tears came from Jazzy - she was wiping at her eyes for a couple of minutes. Once we'd finished with our greetings, we made Chelle stand and show off her lovely 38 week baby belly. It was cute to watch Jas laugh at seeing her sister that way.
Best Mothers' Day gift ever - to have all my babies together again for an hour!!!
Jas introduced herself to us as she would to investigators and babbled on for awhile. None of us understood anything, although we got the gist of it - but only because we knew what she was saying!
Her lovely companion came on the screen for a few minutes. Hna Bravo speaks about 70% English so we were able to communicate with her. It was so cute - she was standing behind Jazzy and playing with her hair while telling us that she loves our daughter and that she's such a hard worker.
It was so good to see her smile and hear her laugh and see her run her hands through her hair again. When our hour was up, we each took about 30 seconds at the screen to say our personal good-bye's. This was the hardest part of course, but well worth it to see our happy missionary. See you again at Christmas in 7 months Jazzy!!!
Supper was next with my parents and Richie's parents. Rich made three pans of delicious lasagne, even if the missionary call distracted him from the proper cooking of the noodles. Still super tasty! White forest in a bowl for dessert completed the meal.

As soon as we said goodbye to our parents, the phone rang and California showed up in the call display. It was Jazzy's future mission president and his wife calling to say Hi and talk to us for a while. They're wonderful people and we're excited to have them start serving on June 30.
And the day ended with my three teenagers at home doing a random hair thing.
