Our First Grandbaby

Chelle and Logan told us way back in October that we were going to be grandparents!!!  Rich was immediately excited and jumped up and hugged them.  I needed more time to get used to the idea! lol  I felt much too young to be a grandma - probably because I still had a pre-schooler.  But over time, as Chelle's baby belly grew, my excitement grew too!

Love!  This was on Mother's Day after skyping with our missionary, a couple weeks before due date.

Being the youngest in the family, Mackie never had the chance to sit on a pregnant belly like her sisters did.  But she did get the chance to sit on her future niece/nephew.

A few days before Chelle was scheduled to be induced, she came to visit us wearing this shirt.  We had to sort of re-enact the picture because . . .

. . . we had a picture of me wearing it too, just before Mackie was born.

Anyway, the baby didn't come on its due date of May 23, so Chelle did indeed go into the hospital on Saturday, May 31 to be induced.  All day long we were waiting to hear progress reports, usually texts from Logan.  Although around 5pm, Chelle sent me a text saying "Epiderals are great!"
Finally, late that evening, somewhere around 10:30, we got a call from Chelle and Logan, telling us all about the birth of the baby and how much it weighed (7lbs 15oz) and everything - they just didn't reveal the gender.  They did a great job of keeping us in the dark and then finally told us . . .
It's a girl!!!!
Of course we all squealed in excitement!!!  We didn't find out until the next morning that her name was going to be Addison Rose.  So we went to our Stake Conference then booted it up to the hospital to see the little sweetheart.

Grandpa was first to hold her.

Addison Rose is absolutely beautiful.

Jordyn is an Aunt now!!!

Aunt Carlee

Aunt Jenna

The Moose represents Jasmine.  Jas is a missionary in Mexico City and won't get to see Addison until she is over a year old and probably walking everywhere.

I'm a Grandma now!!!  I just turned 45.

Great Grandparents

Chelle is an awesome Mommy.  I knew she would be - she was always so good with her 6 baby sisters.

LOVE

Monday - going home from the hospital.

We went to visit them that evening in their new home because Katia and Mackie weren't allowed to visit in the hospital - they were too young.  They were so excited to see their first niece.

Aunt Katia and Aunt Bug
Mackie and I went back over on Wednesday to help with a few things, and snuggle that bundle of sweetness of course.

Wedding Day - Family Dinner & Reception

The Family Dinner and Reception were just a lot of fun!  After the Ring Ceremony, family members were invited to the dinner.  The formal part of the day was done and now it was time to relax and have a good time.
Sitting at the head table.
They chose a Hawaiin Haystack meal.

These gals took care of the guest book - which was actually a calendar where the guests wrote their greetings on their birthdate.

Uncles Brent and Kevin were
 in charge of Security.  lol
Uncle David was the
Master of Ceremonies.

The bride insisted on glass cups and real utensils so there could be lots of clinking on the glasses.  She said, "I want to kiss!!!"  She had the MC announce that glass clinking is allowed and encouraged!

So they got to give lots of kisses!

Visiting at the family dinner.
We played a game during dinner:  Bride & Groom Trivia
There were four possible answers for each question:  Richelle, Logan, Both, Neither
1) Who was born in M?
2) Who ran around naked outside?
3) Who has had a broken bone?
4) Who has taken martial arts classes?
5) Who's favourite food is pizza?
6) Who can burp on demand?
7) Who was named All-Star in sports?
8) Who played in a drumline?
9) Who is the second oldest in their family?
10) Who's never had a filling?
11) Who can wiggle their ears?
12)  Who graduated from LC?

We had lots of laughs while discussing the answers!  And it was fun for everyone to get to know the bride a groom a little better.  The answers are:
1) Logan
2) Both (as children)
3) Logan - his arm in preschool
4) Richelle (Logan studied pottery!)
5) Both (Hawaiin and Meat Lovers)
6) Both - Chelle tried to do it but her dress was too snug!
7) Both (Logan in Football, Chelle in Softball)
8) Richelle (Logan played the trumpet)
9) Neither (Logan 3rd, Richelle 1st)
10)  Richelle
11) Logan (Chelle can wiggle her eyes)
12) Both (Logan in Criminal Justice, Chelle in Office Admin.)

After dessert, we had a toast from the Father of the Bride and a Response from the Groom.

We had about half an hour to clean up from the Family Dinner and prepare for the Reception.  The dinner crew moved out and the reception crew moved in.  A little more time would have been nice for the transition - remember that for next time! lol  Young Women came and helped us too.

The food was all set up on the long table against the back wall on lovely platters and stands that we'd made (but had no time to take pictures here!)

We had three different drink dispensers for drinks in the three wedding colours - limeade, blueberry koolaid and water with lemon slices.  The food, platters of veggies, meat, cheese and tons of squares, were all on the other end of the table.  Looked very pretty!
